On March 18, 2017, at approximately 5:37 pm, State Police responded to State Route 20 in the town of Warren for a Car/Pedestrian motor vehicle accident.

Investigation revealed Francis A. Crist, 59, was stopped along the south shoulder of State Route 20 and had exited his own vehicle to speak with the driver of a white Buick Rendezvous, which was pulled over in front of his vehicle, about tailgating him earlier.

Witnesses state they observed Crist walking in the westbound lane of State Route 20 to approach a mid-2000 white Buick Rendezvous.

The suspect vehicle then backed up in the eastbound lane and then drove across into the westbound lane striking Crist with the driver side of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle did not stop and continued east on State Route 20. Crist was transported to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with multiple facial fractures.

State Police is searching for the other driver believed to be driving a mid-2000’s white Buick Rendezvous. If anyone has information regarding the hit and run accident, they are asked to contact State Police Headquarters in Oneida at (315) 366-6000.
