On March 27, 2017, at approximately 1:19 a.m, State Police in Lee responded to the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 5815 Rome-Taberg Road in Rome regarding a larceny in progress.
Walmart employees stated that a male suspect ran out of the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise, including (2) flat screen TVs. After reviewing the security footage it was determined that the suspect fled in the direction of Monro Muffler.
An area check revealed that the suspect was in a fenced in area next to Monro Muffler hiding in a cardboard box. The suspect, identified as George W. Eissler, age 38, from Mohawk, was charged with Petit Larceny and released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to Rome City Court April 4, 2017.
