Raiders Schedule Highlighted by 10 Home Games, Most Since Playing 10 in 2004
 
Colgate field hockey head coach April Cornell has announced the 2017 Field Hockey schedule, highlighted by 10 home games at Tyler’s Field.

“Our team is looking forward to this fall and the opportunity to continue to get better everyday,” Cornell said. “I am very happy about the competitive balance in our upcoming fall schedule. We have a challenging non-conference schedule that will help prepare us for league play.

“I can’t wait to see what this team capable of when we begin the 2017 season.”

Colgate’s 10 home games this season are the most since the program played 10 home games in the 2004

season. Twice the Raiders played nine home games, including most recently in 2013.

The Raiders will kick of the 2017 slate on Friday, August 25 with a trip to UMass Lowell to kick off a new era of Colgate field hockey with Cornell at the helm alongside new assistant coach Ayla Halus.

After another week of practice, the Raiders will head west for the second straight season to St. Louis where they will face the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds and Saint Louis Billiken’s on Labor Day Weekend with games on Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2, respectively.

Colgate returns to Hamilton for a three-game homestand, including the home opener against Siena on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. The Raiders follow up their home opener with a pair of games on Homecoming Weekend, with a Friday night showdown against Lock Haven at 6:30 p.m. followed by Saint Francis on Sunday, Sept. 10.

The Raiders hit the road for three more games, including the beginning of Patriot League play beginning on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Lafayette. The following weekend, the Raiders travel to Worcester, Massachusetts to face Holy Cross and continue their trip for a non-conference game against Bryant at Providence College.

Colgate comes home for another two games against Boston University in conference action and Rider in a non-conference home game before hitting the road for the final time at Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Following Colgate’s game at Bucknell, the Raiders close out the season with five consecutive home games from Saturday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 29. The Raiders will host American and Cornell on October 14 and 15, respectively, before hosting Brown in their lone game of the weekend on Oct. 22.

The Raiders will be home on Family Weekend for the second straight season, hosting Lehigh on Saturday, Oct. 28 before welcoming the Pacific Tigers to Hamilton on Sunday, Oct. 29 for Senior Day and the regular season finale.

Patriot League playoffs are set for the following weekend, with the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 and the championship on Saturday, Nov. 4.
