On April 19, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer 4-H Program held a canvas painting workshop. Twelve 4-H members learned to paint a birch tree scene on canvas. Jill Rae Vennera, led 4-H members in the step by step process, as they created their very own masterpiece.
Participants included Ahna, Coco, and Gami Brackett, Hailey and Hannah Carnright, Rebecca Elwood, Logan and Lucas Humphreville, Katie Reynolds, Brooklyn and Chloe Williams.
The 4-H members were taught the many steps and layers involved in making the canvas come alive.
They were encouraged to be creative and add their own style to their individual paintings.
They learned about blending colors and adding layers for dimension, while completing the work on canvas. Participants then took their completed painting home to display, give as a gift, or exhibit at the County Fair.
