New York Cultural Heritage Tourism Network Presents: “Developing Strategic Organizational Sustainability” June 7, 2017

The New York Cultural Heritage Tourism Network’s spring conference, “Developing Strategic Organizational Sustainability”, originally planned for March 15 and interrupted by Storm Stella, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

The conference will be held at Colgate University from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is produced for professionals in the cultural heritage tourism industry, as well as businesses, private sector organizations and individuals who would like to become active participants in their community’s growth and rehabilitation. Speakers and panelists will focus on best practices, current opportunities available in New York state, as well as how non-for-profits and individual participation in economic development has changed in recent years and become an intricate part of sustainability.

The Keynote Speaker is Laura Quebral, Director of the University at Buffalo Regional Institute where she provides day-to-day leadership and management in a range of high-visibility projects in regional economic development. The luncheon presentation will be “Erie Canal Sal,” a witty representation of historical life on the Erie Canal, performed by Gretchen Murray Sepik and is not to be missed.

The New York Cultural Heritage Tourism Network’s mission is to bring the myriad of diverse cultural heritage attractions and venues in New York State together to increase visitation, enhance education and improve marketing in order to make a positive financial contribution to the membership. Within the past year the Network has moved to incorporate as a non-profit organization with a five-year Strategic Plan, a two-year Work Plan and its first board of directors to provide direction and continuity for the Network future.

The Network has joined forces with state-wide organizations like ILNY, NYS Tourism Advisory Council, Museum Association of New York, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, NYS Canal Corporation, Canal NY and several others to assist in the promotion of culture and heritage for local, regional, national and international visitation.
