On July 6, 2017, State Police in Watertown announce the arrest of Jamaal K. Carr, age 26, of 532 Franklin Street, apartment B, Watertown, NY, for Murder in the 2nd Degree.

This arrest stems from the shooting death of Tyler Johnson that occurred on May 18, 2017, in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County, New York.

Carr was arrested in the City of Syracuse and was arraigned in the Town of Pamelia Court where he was remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building without bail.

State Police are interested in speaking to any person that was in the area of State Route 37 and County Route 16, in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County that may have been approached by any person seeking a ride, between the hours of 12:15 a.m. and 3 a.m. This vehicle and driver we are interested in speaking to was last seen east on County Route 16, toward the Village of Evans Mills.

State Police in Watertown are investigating a shooting that occurred shortly after 1 am this morning at a residence in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County.

Troopers responded to 28764 State Route 37 for a reported person shot inside the residence. Tyler J. Johnson, age 20, who resided at that residence, was found in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where he succumbed to his injuries.

State Police believe the suspect(s) knew Johnson and that he was the intended target of the shooting.
