On July 6, 2017, State Police, with the assistance from The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, NYS Forrest Rangers, City of Little Falls Police & Fire Department, and the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office recovered two bodies from the Mohawk River.  They have been identified as 23 year-old, Kevin Moak and 18-year-old, Ryan Moak.


On July 4, 2017, at approximately 12:26pm, A body was recovered 1 mile east of the Little Falls Marina on the north shore of the Mohawk River/Barge Canal and was identified as 42 year-old, Terry E. Moshier. An autopsy will be competed by the Albany County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.

State Police continue to search for the other 2 missing boaters.


State Police in Herkimer are searching for 3 individuals who were reported missing from a capsized paddle boat in the Mohawk River.

Troopers responded to Rotary Park along the Erie Canal around 4:15pm this afternoon to search for Kevin Moak (age 23), Ryan Moak (age 18) and Terry Moshier, (age 42) who were last seen by witnesses on a paddle boat, near the rapids, yelling for help.  State Police along with the City of Little Falls Police Department, The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office, and the St. Johnsville Fire Department are positioned along the Mohawk River looking for the 3 men.  A New York State Police helicopter, members from the State Police K9 unit and the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) will continue to search the area.
