The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Information Directorate here will celebrate its centennial of “100 years of Innovation” during a ceremony July 17. Jacqueline Izzo, mayor of Rome, will sign a proclamation declaring July 17, 2017, as “AFRL Information Directorate Heritage Day” during a 9:30 a.m. ceremony to be held outside Building 3, located at 525 Brooks Road, or in case of rain, in the Building 106 Auditorium.

Daniel S. Goddard, director of the AFRL Information Directorate, will host the event.

The Air Force Research Lab, Information Directorate is celebrating their Centennial of “100 years of Innovation”; tracing its roots back to 1917 as the US Army Signal Corps’ Radio Laboratory; with parts of the Signal Corps Labs being transferred to the Army Air Force (AAF), becoming Watson Laboratories in 1945; moved to Griffiss site in Rome, NY to become Rome Air Development Center in 1951, Rome Laboratory in 1990, and finally the AFRL Information Directorate in 1997.
