Assemblyman Miller and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand recently toured Brewery Ommegang and discussed legislation that will help New York state breweries.

Recently, Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I-New Hartford) toured Brewery Ommegang alongside U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and met with Brewmaster Phil Leinhart. While touring, they discussed the exponential growth of breweries in New York state, the boost those breweries are providing to our local economy, and legislation to help them increase the production of hops here in New York which will lead to more 100-percent New York craft brews.

“Brewery Ommegang has been a staple in our community for two decades,” said Miller. “It was a pleasure to visit along with Sen. Gillibrand and learn more about the brewing process and what more we can do to help this booming industry continue to grow. More local breweries pop up every year in New York state, which creates a lot of competition. That competition and the pride these brewers have in their work spurs these establishments on to create wonderful and unique new tastes which benefits our economy and the palates of quality craft brew fans. We need to continue pushing forward with legislation that encourages all types of new businesses to set up shop in our state, especially the local breweries and wineries that we are becoming known for nationally.”

Assemblyman Miller represents the 101st District consisting of parts of Delaware, Herkimer, Oneida, Orange, Otsego, Sullivan and Ulster counties. For more information, please visit Assemblyman Miller’s Official Website.
