Undersheriff John Ball

Lebanon Democrats will caucus to choose candidates for local office in the fall elections and will hear from Democratic candidate for Madison County Sheriff, John Ball, acting sheriff, when they gather at the Smith Valley Community Center in Randallsville at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the corner of River and Randallsville roads.

All local registered Lebanon Democrats are encouraged to attend as candidates for local office will be chosen. The public is invited to hear Undersheriff Ball as anyone may attend the Democratic caucus but only registered Democrats can vote on candidates for local office.

Refreshments will be available.

Candidates for local office include Town Supervisor, Town Justice, two Town Council positions, Town Clerk and Town Highway Superintendent.

Lebanon Supervisor Jim Goldstein is seeking another term and the nomination of the caucus and is also running as an independent Farm Development/Renewable Energy party candidate.

Town Council candidates Patricia Matson and Ron Jones are up for re-election.

Town Clerk/Tax Collector Joann Collins is seeking another term and also running as an independent. Lebanon Democrats supported her last year and will consider her for endorsement.

Town Highway Superintendent Alex Hodge and Town Justice Brian Forsythe are running for re-election as Republicans and are also expected to be considered for endorsement by the Democratic caucus.

Candidates are nominated and voted on by the caucus so attendance by local Democrats is important.

Those interested in learning more or running for office can contact Lebanon Democratic Chair Judi Clippinger at 315-691-3415.

This information is encouraged to be shared with other Lebanon Democrats and local residents.
