Calling all artists! The Schweinfurth Art Center is holding its second annual community exhibit and
fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Schweinfurth is soliciting donations of artwork that measures 10×10 inches for exhibit and sale at this event.

Three donating artists will be selected to exhibit in the Schweinfurth’s Gallery Julius in 2018. Artists who donated to last year’s event and were featured in their own exhibit in 2017 included Theresa Daddona-Traub of Skaneateles, Karen Frutiger of Rochester and Ellen Haffar of Manlius.

The works will be sold via silent auction on October 19. Revenue from the sales will support the Schweinfurth and its many exhibits, classes, scholarships and community programs such as free poetry readings and First Friday events.

Donated pieces to last year’s event included work by many well-known local artists including Chris Baker, Barbara Delmonico, Hetty Easter, Nicora Gangi, Mary Giehl, Sewall Oertling and Katie Waugh, among many others.  Artwork included a wide range of mediums, from paintings to photographs to textiles to mixed-media.

The event Oct. 19 is a great opportunity for attendees to purchase art by local and national artists, and to enjoy local food, wine and live music featuring Diana Jacobs. Advance tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Donating artists may purchase two tickets for the price of one. Tickets at the door are $35 for members of the Schweinfurth and $40 for non-members. Donations accepted through Saturday, Oct. 14. For more information about the event, donating artwork and to purchase tickets, visit myartcenter.org or call 315.255.1553.
