As a result of an investigation into allegations of welfare fraud, Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Carrie Bishop, 37 of Eaton, charging her with fourth-degree grand larceny (a class D felony) and third-degree welfare fraud (a class D felony).

It is alleged that Bishop applied for public assistance and failed to report her income to the Madison County Department of Social Services. As a result of Bishop’s fraudulent act, she received $3,750 in public assistance.

Bishop was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. Bishop is scheduled to return to the Lenox Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
