Sponsored by Chittenango Rotary Club, The Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and the Town of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department, there will be an Eerie Canal Fun Run, Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. This will be a fun day to promote health and wellness, community spirit, fellowship and raise funds for the sponsoring organizations to put back into the community.

The day will begin with registration and packet picku-p at 9:30 a.m. at the Town of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Building at 707 Legion Drive, Chittenango. The 15K run will begin at 11 a.m., the 5K will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the 2-mile fun walk will begin at 11:45 a.m.

Runners and walkers will be judged for best costumes in the following categories: funniest, scariest, most original, best Canal Towpath-era theme and best group costumes.

An award ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Legion Drive.

There will also be a post-race pasta and meatball dinner from noon to 3 p.m. at the Legion. The cost is $7 for children 12 and under, veterans and seniors; $10 for adults and $25 for a family of four or more.

There will also be a post-race Eerie Halloween event from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, 717 Lakeport Road, which includes a pumpkin-carving contest, scavenger hunt, candlelit pumpkin path, a haunted house, costume contest, crafts and blacksmith demos.
