The Oneida Area Crop Walk will be held Oct. 29, with registration beginning at noon and the walk officially stepping off at 1 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida.

According to Michael Yeoman, 2017 Oneida Area CROP Walk Chairperson, organizers are pleased to be bringing this event back to Oneida after a year when no physical CROP walk was held.

“We had community members encouraging us to re-energize the event this year,” Yeoman said.

Organizers are expecting a good cross representation of areas residents participating this year including families, couples, and youth.

The Oneida Area CROP Walk is a way to visit with friends, make new friends, enjoy the outdoors, get exercise AND make an impact locally and globally as walkers raise funds to fight hunger in our community and around the world.

Yeoman said that local residents can support walkers by going to the Oneida Area Crop Walk page – crophungerwalk.org/oneidany where they can make a donation.

“We have tried to make it convenient for local residents to donate by either supporting a local walker or making online donations on this site,” he said.

The walk will start at the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida where it will go through various city neighborhoods before returning to the First Presbyterian Church. The First United Methodist will provide a water break station midway through the event for walkers to refresh themselves before completing the final phase of the walk.

Funds received during CROP Walk support local Food Banks and international hunger-prevention programs.
