Children ages 8-12 are invited to the Cazenovia Public Library Community Room on Friday, Oct. 20, at 1:30 p.m., for the next installment of Art for Kids. In this program, Children’s Program Coordinator Jenna Wright Martin will lead an exploration into the life and works of Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986).

Recognized internationally for her boldly innovative art, Georgia O’Keeffe was one of the most significant American painters of the twentieth century. In the 1920s, the artist emerged as a pioneer in modernism, exciting the art world with her large-scale paintings. Today, she is best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, dramatic cityscapes, landscapes, and images of bones against the desert sky.

In this program, participants will have the opportunity to study several of O’Keeffe’s works. Following a brief discussion, the young artists will be encouraged to think BIG. Oversize paper, paints, and pastels will be provided for inspiration. Class size is limited to ensure program quality. Call or stop by the Library to reserve a spot.

Participants will qualify for the chance to win a beautiful art set donated by a good friend of the Library. The kit contains 178 pieces, including colored markers, crayons, colored pencils, watercolor cakes, oil pastels, acrylic paint tubes, and much more—all arranged in a beautiful wooden case with adjustable trays.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information, call (315) 655-9322 or visitwww.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
