To the Editor:

I feel well-served by having Peter Darby on the Hamilton Town Board, and I’m going to vote to keep him there.

Attending many of the Town Board’s meetings over the past three years I observed firsthand how Peter works effectively with other members of the Board to resolve complex issues such as the funding of 24/7 ambulance service, correcting a salt storage problem that threatened the Sangerfield River, and reconciling the town’s books and making the budget process more accountable. He does his homework, and listens to all sides.

Peter serves as the Town’s representative on the Partnership for Community Development. He had the vision to see that, with a few more resources, PCD could leverage support for local farms and businesses, homeowners, and community-based projects. In the two years since Peter made the case for the village and town to increase their combined annual support to match Colgate’s, PCD has initiated a variety of programs to serve economic development and community vitality, and brought more than $1 million in grants into the local economy.

Governments serve best by investing our taxes wisely to improve the communities they represent. Peter Darby embodies that ideal.
