WANTED: MISSING LIBRARIAN

Ethel M. Tucker is missing from our Library Director Wall of Fame. Ethel was the Head Librarian of the Hamilton Public Library from 1938-1952, and had previously worked as an assistant librarian under the direction of our first Head Librarian, May Coman. At one point, Ethel lived at 27 Hamilton St.

We believe she was born around 1889 and think her parents were Minnie and Frederick Tucker. There may have been a connection to the Larsen Tucker Hardware Co. in Hamilton, but we’re not sure.

We’re asking the community for help in restoring Ms. Tucker to memory and giving her proper recognition for her many years of service contributions to the Hamilton Public Library. Any information or pictures you may have are greatly appreciated.

Please stop by or contact our Assistant Director, Meghan Milligan (mmilligan@midyork.org or 315-824- 3060) with any information you have to help us crack the case of the missing librarian.
