Calling all local history enthusiasts! This fall, the Cazenovia Public Library will offer community members the chance to assist in the indexing of recorded oral histories. Archivist Elisha Davies will lead a tutorial Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m., in the Community Room.

The Oral Histories—conducted in the late 1980s by Town Historian Peg Ladd—include interviews with notable members of the town. Many of the recordings include reference to the narrators’ childhoods in Cazenovia, educations, early careers, and community involvement, as well as accounts of notable Cazenovia events/memories.

The digitized interviews will eventually become available online at NYHeritage.org—an online research site, hosted by members of the Empire State Library Network, that features collections from cultural institutions across New York state.

Following the tutorial, participants will be able to access the interviews and index the content from home. Participants must have basic computer skills.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information, call 315-655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
