Fiber Artists from all over the nation will have the opportunity to apply for a new Fiber Artist Fellowship that will offer workshops and/or independent study, housing, and meals for two weeks at the Quilting by the Lake. This award seeks to provide early-career fiber artists the opportunity to learn new techniques and skills while engaging with a vibrant community of artists from all over the world.

Fellows have their choice of 15 signature workshops, including independent study. Quilting by the Lake has two week long sessions that offers 2-day, 3-day, and 5 day workshops. Fellows are welcome to combine workshops and independent study to suit their artistic needs. While many of the workshops focus on quilting, all fiber artists are encouraged to apply.

This year’s faculty are: Joe Cunningham, Rosalie Dace, Valerie Goodwin, Ann Johnston, Mickey Lawler, Katie Pasquini Masopust, Jeannette DeNicolis Meyer, Philippa Naylor, Sue Nickels, Jane Sassaman, David Taylor, and Sherri Lynn Wood. For more information about the workshops applicants are encouraged to visit: www.quiltingbythelake.com.

Fellows are required to give a brief lecture about their work during QBL, and are invited to be a featured artist at the Quilt Show. Proposals for other community projects or artistic endeavors during the fellowship are welcome and encouraged.

Applicants are required to submit a completed application form with references, 10 images of artwork with a corresponding image list, artist statement, resume, and a statement of intent. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2018. For full application requirements and more information, visit schweinfurthartcenter.org/qbl_scholarship.cfm.
