Invites FEMA administrator to visit New York to survey devastation from summer flooding

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) is calling for an immediate appeal of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) decision on December 6 to deny a major disaster declaration for the 15 Upstate counties impacted by severe flooding in July. Additionally, Rep. Tenney also invited FEMA Administrator Brock Long to tour damaged areas and meet with those who were impacted by the devastating flooding and sustained damages to their homes and businesses.

“It was deeply disappointing to learn that FEMA denied this request for vital federal assistance that the constituents I represent deserve and need. Residents and municipalities alike are overwhelmed and frustrated by the increasing frequency of flooding and a federal disaster declaration would have provided critical assistance to help them recover from the costly damage. I am urging FEMA to revisit this request and reverse its decision.  I stand ready to work with FEMA and the State of New York to ensure that all impacted receive the assistance they desperately need,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.

In a letter to Governor Cuomo, Rep. Tenney called on the governor to immediately submit an appeal to FEMA. Rep. Tenney expressed her support for the appeal and willingness to work alongside the Governor to ensure that this decision is reversed.
