Cazenovia Public Library to host an evening of music with The Perennials

The Cazenovia Public Library invites music enthusiasts of all ages to the Community Room for a special concert by “The Perennials.” The Syracuse-based trio will perform Friday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.

Bob Elfenbein, Harvey Nusbaum, and Jacqui McCarthy have played together for three years. Each is well known throughout central New York for their solo and band work. Harvey plays the guitar, electric bass, and five string banjo. Bob and Jacqui play the guitar, electric bass, fiddle, and mandolin. The concert set list will include traditional Celtic dance music and folk songs, as well as material from the Beatles, Tom Petty, Doc Watson, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and other artists.

Cazenovia Public Library to Host Farmers For America Documentary and Discussion

The Cazenovia Public Library will partner with the Cody family—long-time farmers in Fenner—to present Farmers for AmericaA Documentary to Celebrate, Inspire and Support Young Farmers. The film offers a sweeping, optimistic look at the promise of American agriculture. The screening and conversation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m., in the Community Room.

The documentary traces the changes to America’s food system as an increasing number of consumers embrace farm-to-table lifestyles and insist on knowing the source of their food. The film centers on the farmers, young and old, who bring America together through food. Farmers for America introduces the young farmers of tomorrow, highlighting the practices they are championing and the obstacles they face. The film runs 75 minutes and will be followed by a group discussion.

To celebrate 150 years of farming, the Cody family will create a special display for the Library’s front lobby.

Goodbye Christopher Robin to be shown at the Cazenovia Public Library

The Cazenovia Public Library will present two free screenings of Goodbye Christopher Robin on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 1 to 7 p.m., in the Community Room. The 2017 British historical drama offers a glimpse into the real life relationship between children’s author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin, whose stuffed animal toys inspired the world of Winnie-the-Pooh.

The beloved books Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928) bring much needed hope and comfort to England in the wake of World War I. Meanwhile, Milne and his family must deal with the consequences of international recognition.
