Stranger Things during school break in February

“Stranger Things” are happening during Mid-Winter Break at the Canastota Public Library. Tuesday through Friday afternoons from 1 – 3pm, students ages 10 – 15 can participate in activities related to this original Netflix series including listening to guest speakers, creating scientific experiments and crafts and participating in a mock mystery investigation. These sessions are a cooperative effort of the Canastota Recreation Commission and the Canastota Public Library.

On Tuesday afternoon, students will hear a Guest Speaker and create secret scratch off messages and secret codes. Wednesday afternoon activities will include scientific experiments and engineering feats. On Thursday, students will act as detectives as they review forensic evidence, follow leads and interrogate witnesses to solve the mystery, “The Body in the Book Drop.” The week will wrap up on Friday afternoon with a craft session using Stranger Things logos and quotes. As well, the group will enjoy Eggo Waffles and Sludge punch as we watch the first episode of the Netflix original series, “Stranger Things.”

Students can sign up for the entire four days of programming or can select one or two days that they would like to participate. There is no charge for the program but students are asked to sign up so that there will be enough resources available for everyone. To reserve your space, contact the library by calling 315-697- 7030.

Participants may also stop in personally to register for the program. Registration is available at the Circulation Desk at the library. The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center Street in Canastota.
