John Salka
Supervisor John Salka, Brookfield

John Salka, Republican supervisor of Brookfield announced last week he is running for the 121st state Assembly seat.

“We won 19 towns in 2016, up from a single township in 2014, and now seek the majority to win the assembly district,” Salka said. “Nearly 25,000 voters approved of our message in the last campaign,
and we have gained considerable name recognition through the 121st District.”

The 121st Assembly District contains all of Madison county, five towns in Oneida County and 13 towns in Otsego County.

“I will continue my campaign of going door-to-door, attending events throughout the 121st, and working hard to broaden our base and knowledge of voters’ concerns,” Salka said. “In my years as a school board president, town supervisor and county legislator, I have had the honor of advocating for the people of my
community and gaining the perspective and experience needed to bring their concerns to Albany.”

Salka pledged that he will be a responsive legislator and will initiate town hall meetings on a regular basis throughout the assembly district.

He will bring his experience of legislation, lowering taxes and savings the taxpayers millions of dollars on a local level to the state assembly.

“Representation of the 121 st assembly district has been lackluster at best recently, and there needs to be a stronger presence for us in Albany. Our agricultural community is in crisis, and the energy is no longer there to go to bat for them. In addition the tax and spend practices we see have made our state one of the most expensive to live in, and we need to have a strong voice in our capitol that will work to turn this around. I seek to be one of those voices.”

Salka stated he feels that the gimmicks and false promises made by Albany politicians have contributed to the lackluster growth of upstate New York.

“We keep on being told upstate is being ‘revitalized,'” Salka said. “In my travels, I see that this is simply not so.”

He urges people to follow him on Facebook at Salka for Assembly. For more information, email salkaforassembly@gmail.com.
