Handwriting the Constitution of the United States

Join the Madison Chenango Call to Action Buzz Team in Handwriting the Constitution. The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Hamilton Public Library from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at Hamilton Whole Foods from 1 to 4 p.m.  Both venues are on Broad Street in Hamilton.

The US constitution is the fundamental document of our government, yet it is unlikely that the average citizen has read it!  Artist Morgan O’Hara originated the idea of handwriting the constitution and has said “Hand copying a document can produce an intimate connection to the text and its meaning. The hand writer may discover things about this document that they never knew, a passage that challenges or moves them. They may even leave with a deeper connection to the founders and the country, or even a sense of encouragement.”

The event is free and all ages are encouraged to participate and engage with our government’s founding document. There will be copies of the constitution, writing materials and resources for all ages.

MC CTA is a citizen group from Southern Madison and Northern Chenango Counties. We work together to support the rights of all community members and uphold the democratic and progressive principles that make our nation strong and diverse. MC CTA is committed to nonviolent democratic action.
