SUNY Morrisville is hosting a Regional Applied Learning Conference, Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, showcasing the strengths of applied learning.
The conference is co-sponsored by SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Poly and MVCC.
From its very beginning in 1908, SUNY Morrisville has emphasized a hands-on approach to learning by doing, which is reflected in its distinctive facilities and operations.

Friday, March 29: Experiential Education Academy workshop, “Enhancing Teaching, Learning, and the Student Experience,” for SUNY faculty and staff
Saturday, March 30 (free and open to the public): Keynote speaker Randy Wolken, president and CEO of the Manufacturer’s Association of Central New York, will discuss, “Presenting the Strengths of Applied Learning,” from 9 -9:45 a.m. in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities theater. MACNY serves more than 330 companies with more than 100,000 employees in a 26-county region in Upstate New York.
Wolken also is president and CEO of the Manufacturers Alliance of New York, a coalition of manufacturing groups representing more than 2,500 companies and more than 425,000 manufacturing employees throughout New York state.
A student showcase, “The Strengths of Applied Learning — The Power to Produce,” takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. in the STUAC lobby and lower level, which illustrates — through photos and posters — student experiences, learning engagement, research, service training and client-based projects impacted by applied learning.
Through action-oriented labs, true-to-life facilities and internships, SUNY Morrisville students engage in ways that go beyond the traditional classroom environment.
Among the hands-on learning with distinctive facilities and operations are: 1,000 acres of farm and woodland; a dairy complex; the full-service Copper Turret Restaurant & Brewhouse; an Aquaculture Center with year-round fish and vegetable production; a 12,000-square-foot greenhouse; and an Automotive Technology Building replicating an auto dealership with state-of-the-art laboratories.
