The Chenango Bird Club begins its 2019 program season with a presentation titled “Music of Birds” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Rogers Environmental Education Center’s Visitor Center.

This spring the air will once again be filled with an ensemble of ancient bird songs. Why do they sing and how do they actually produce their musical melodies? Music of Birds will awaken your appreciation of bird song and help you learn the tunes of a few of our most common songsters.

Our presenter, John Pumilio, is a former field researcher with the National Park Service in the Everglades and director of ornithology at a National Audubon Society sanctuary on Hog Island, ME and currently the director of sustainability at Colgate University.

Refreshments will be served following Johns’ presentation.

The Chenango Bird Club will have a short business meeting at 6:30 p.m., prior to the show. Everyone is welcome to attend all or part of the evening’s activities.

The Chenango Bird Club presents monthly programs (except January, February and March).

Nature enthusiasts of all levels and interests are invited to all Chenango Bird Club programs, free of charge. Rogers Center is located one mile west of Sherburne Village on State Highway 80.

Coming from Sherburne, drive past the main entrance and take the driveway to the right just past the parking lot exit to reach the staff parking lot.

Call Club President Charlene LaFever at 607.334.9112 for more information on Chenango Bird Club activities.
