Come join us for just an easy stroll or try something harder for weight loss and better health. Even if you just have cabin fever from being cooped up all winter and want to get out of the house, this is a great group to join with an opportunity to relax together after walks and form friendships in the process.

“This group is for the gathering of people who want to walk together for fitness and companionship,” said organizer Cindy Scott, explaining that though there is a preliminary schedule sketched out, the walks can be any day of the week at any time.

“I am opening the Meetup site that I’m hosting as a community board for anyone who wants to organize a walk,” she said. “They will be able to post a time and place for anyone interested in joining them. I hope people will use this to organize walks in several of the local towns. I have had a great response so far and think this will be a great way to bring the community together.”

When: Various days, with Sundays at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. being the regular schedule times; other times will be posted on the Meetup site community board at as they are organized. Eventually, several different walking paths with various levels of difficulties will be organized throughout the week. On that site, all the different walks will be posted and any weather cancellations.

We will meet in the park next to the lake behind the amusement park. Look for the “Lakeside Walkers” sign at the picnic table closest to the Bath House. If you google Sylvan Beach Amusement Park, the Bath House is on the map. As people post other walking times on the Meetup site, they may designate a different starting place.
