Children ages 2 to 12 are invited to the Great Swamp Conservancy, 8375 North Main St., Canastota, April 19 to hunt for eggs, play games, make Easter crafts, visit with Easter Bunny, pet live bunnies, try on some bunny ears, observe live baby chicks, get free Easter grass, food and much more.

The GSC opens to the public at 10 a.m. to hop around the facility and see what is going on. In honor of Earth Day, a special booth will be set up to make “Seed Balls.”  Bring in your coloring contest entry. Entries can be found on the GSC web site and the Canastota Public Library.

The hunt begins at 11 a.m. with specific, separate age areas for children.

Categories are ages 2 to 3, and one parent is allowed in with the child; 4- and 5-year-olds search for eggs on their own with parents on the sidelines; 6- to 8-year-olds search for eggs on their own without parents; and 9- to 12-year-olds also are on their own but have a scavenger hunt list to complete.

In each age group, there is one plastic egg hidden that has a notice reading “You are the grand prize winner.”

As a special Easter gift, please bring a canned good for donation to the Opportunity Shop. Suggested donation is $1/child, rain or shine (boots recommended).
