Jefferson County man arrested on meth charges after reported fire inside residence

On May 7, 2019, at approximately 5: 10 a.m., state police responded to a reported fire at 41250 Bearup Road in the town of Alexandria.

When fire personnel arrived, they located resident 51-year-old Roscoe W. Carlisle hiding in an attic area of the house. Carlisle was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released.

During the investigation, items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine were located inside the residence and near the location of the fire. Investigators from the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control and Jefferson County Emergency Management Office are continuing to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.

Carlisle was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, a class D felony.

State police were assisted by Plessis Fire Department, Clayton Fire Department and Alexandria Fire Department.

The investigation continues.
