The village of Canastota, along with American Legion Post 140 and Canastota Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 600, will present a Memorial Day parade and ceremonies Monday, May 27, 2019; this is a communitywide event and will include veteran’s organizations, veterans from World Wide II and Korean War, marching bands, emergency vehicles, antique automobiles and tractors, as well as many civic organizations.

The events commence at 9 a.m. with military honors at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and are followed by the parade step-off at 10 a.m. from Roberts Street Elementary School. The community’s finest will be on display and proceeding from the school south on Peterboro Street to Clark Memorial Park.

Memorial Day ceremonies at Clark Park start promptly at 11:15 a.m. and feature an array of guest speakers and commemorations to our dearly and honorably departed. In the event of rain, ceremonies are to be held at the VFW home on East Canal Street. There will be an open house for all participants and the community at American Legion Post 140 on Peterboro Street after the ceremonies.
