CBS Sports Network Televising Week Zero Matchup in Noon Start

Defending Patriot League champion Colgate kicks off the 150th Anniversary of College Football on Saturday, Aug. 24, against Villanova with live television coverage on CBS Sports Network.

Kickoff is set for noon Eastern time.

The Raiders and Wildcats’ Week Zero matchup at Andy Kerr Stadium is one of four Division I games scheduled during the opening weekend. This marks the second time Colgate has played in Week Zero, having defeated Cal Poly 20-14 on Aug. 26, 2017.

Colgate advanced to the NCAA DI FCS quarterfinals against eventual champion No. 1 North Dakota State behind a historic defensive performance. Patriot League Coach of the Year Dan Hunt and the Raiders’ tied the FCS single-season shutout record of five. They led the nation in total defense (237.7 per game), scoring defense (9.3) and pass efficiency defense (88.77) while finishing fifth in turnover margin (+1.25) and seventh in rushing defense (100.8).

Colgate went 29 consecutive quarters without allowing a touchdown, from the fourth quarter in its Sept. 1 season opener until the second quarter of its Nov. 10 win over Lehigh. The Raiders finished the season 10-2 and ranked No. 7 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the STATS FCS Poll.

Oct. 5 vs. Lehigh, 1 p.m.
Oct. 12 vs. Bucknell, 1 p.m.
Nov. 9 vs. Fordham, 1 p.m.
 
Two road games also have posted starting kickoff times:
 
Sept. 14 at William & Mary, 6 p.m.
Nov. 16 at Lafayette, 12:30 p.m.

Future road start times will be posted to the Colgate Football online schedule as they become available.
