Troopers investigate motorcycle accident in Oswego County
On June 9, 2019, state police responded to a motorcycle accident that occurred on State Route 49 in Constantia, Oswego County.
Investigation revealed at approximately 7:30 p.m., a 1999 Honda motorcycle operated by Richard P. Gilbert, 51, of Bernhards Bay, was eastbound on Route 49 when, after the operator shifted to a higher gear, the passenger sitting behind the operator let go and was ejected from the motorcycle.
The passenger, 49-year-old Shelly A. Burghart fell to the road striking her head and face. She was transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University and was listed in serious condition.
Gilbert was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (a misdemeanor), and improper license plates and unregistered motorcycle, both violations.
The investigation continues.
