Congressman proudly displays Matolka’s art in Capitol

Congressman Anthony Brindisi announced that Cassidy Matolka was NY-22’s winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Matolka, a student at Whitesboro High School, had her art hung in the halls of the United States Capitol today.

“We are so proud of Cassidy and her incredible artistic talent,” Brindisi said. “Our district is not short on creativity and it shows. We received many great submissions from artists across New York’s 22nd. Now folks from around the country and the world will see Cassidy’s piece displayed in the halls of the Capitol. What an honor.”

Matolka was in Washington and joined other Congressional Art competition winners for a reception.

“It feels really inspiring to be picked as a winner,” Matolka said after seeing her piece displayed in Congress. “It was really inspiring to see all the other artwork that people made.”

Brindisi launched the 2019 Congressional Art competition in April and solicited participation from area High Schoolers.
