Erica and Anthony Brindisi Read to Local Kids and Donate Books from the Library of Congress

Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) and Erica Brindisi visited the Dunham Public Library today to deliver books, meet with staff, and read to local kids.

Brindisi Bookworms, launched in March, has brought more books to library shelves across New York’s 22nd. Brindisi Bookworms takes advantage of the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program which allows members of Congress to donate the Library’s extra books to schools, libraries, community centers, and other qualifying organizations.

“Not only is reading an enjoyable activity, it gives kids the skills they need to succeed,” said Erica and Anthony Brindisi. “For us, cracking open a good book is a family affair, and we are honored to be able to give back to the community in this way. We hope kids across the district spend time this summer getting lost in a book or two.”

Organizations interested in participating in Brindisi Bookworms and receiving books from the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program should email brindisi.scheduling@mail.house.gov.
