Troopers investigate fatal crash in Rome

On July 9, 2019 at approximately 3:34 pm, State Police responded to a two-car crash on State Route 46 near Townline Road in the city of Rome.

Investigation has revealed that a 2016 Chevrolet Trax, operated by Tyler R. Bangs, 27, of North Bay, was southbound on Route 46 when it crossed over into the northbound lane and struck head-on a 2012 Ford Fusion operated by Roxanne L. Platt, 63, of Utica.

Both operators were extricated from their vehicles by members of Rome City Fire Department.  Bangs was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Platt was air lifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she is currently listed in critical condition with internal injuries.

The investigation continues.

State police seek public assistance with identifying an individual in surveillance photos

State Police in Fulton are investigating the fraudulent use of credit card information that occurred at the Wal-Mart store on State Route 3 in Granby.

Store security footage shows an unknown female charging $504 for a prepaid visa card at the store July 1, 2019.

Anyone with information about the individual in the security photos is asked to contact state police at 315.366.6000. All information will be kept confidential.
