The Utica Municipal Housing Authority will host a workshop on how to apply for employment with the United States Census Bureau from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at the Utica Public Library, 303 Genesee St., Utica, in the Gallery.

The workshop is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served. Parking is in the rear of the building off Park Avenue.

Confirmed speakers are John Furman of the Utica Municipal Housing Authority and Katherine Dillon, partnership specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau. Furman will provide a short presentation on how to find and keep a job; Dillon will speak about how to apply for U.S. Census Bureau jobs.

Housing Authority staff and AmeriCorps members will be on site to provide information on local job opportunities and to provide information on other service referrals available. Women, minorities, youth, bi-lingual persons, public housing, Section 8 voucher residents and low-income people are encouraged to participate.

The U.S. Census Bureau is accepting applications for employment for the 2020 Census in every county of New York state and office positions in the Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. Visit 2020census.gov/jobs to start an application.

Information will also be provided on how local organizations can support the Census job recruitment efforts.
