Mattydale man arrested on rape and criminal sex act charges

On July 18, 2019, New York State Police arrested 19-year-old, Jeffrey J. Thompkins from Mattydale, NY for Rape 2nd degree (D felony), Criminal Sex Act 2nd degree (D felony), and Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (C felony).

It is alleged that Thompkins engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 14 years old and digitally recorded it.  He was arraigned in the town of Salina Court and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $5,000 cash bail/$10,000 bond.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office and the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center.

Connecticut woman sent to Utica Hospital following ATV crash

On July 19, 2019, at approximately 11:00 a.m., State Police responded to an ATV crash located at the “Maximum Powerpark Event” at 449 North Gage Road in the Town of Newport, Herkimer County.

The investigation has revealed Crystal J. Kelly, age 38, from Northford, CT, was operating a 2014 Polaris ATV four-wheeler on an off-road trail when she overturned and was pinned underneath the ATV.

Kelly was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica with internal injuries.

Central Square man killed in early morning motorcycle crash in Oswego County

On July 22, 2019, at 5:40 a.m., State Police responded to a motorcycle crash on County Route 37 and Woodworth Road in the town of West Monroe.

The investigation has revealed, a passing motorist observed a demolished motorcycle lying next to a damaged utility pole with wires partially down along the roadway. The operator, later identified as Michael J. Geer, age 28 from Central Square, NY was located by Troopers and EMS approximately 30 yards from the motorcycle in the nearby woods.

Mr. Geer was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
