Jefferson County Man arrested on Rape charges

On July 22, 2019, state police in Watertown arrested Xavier T. Cobb, 26, from Adams, for third-degree rape (an E felony), third-degree criminal sex act (an E felony) and endangering the welfare of a child (A misdemeanor).

Cobb is accused of having sexual contact with a female under the age of 17.  He was arraigned in Adams Village Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety building in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bail bond.

Cobb is scheduled to return to Adams Village Court at 1:30 p.m. July 26, 2019.

State Police seek public assistance with identifying an individual in surveillance photos

State police in Watertown are investigating a criminal mischief complaint that occurred July 21 around 3:29 p.m. at the Black River Trail parking area located at 25491 Ridge Road in Watertown. Three vehicles in the parking lot had rear windows smashed out and personal items taken.

Troopers are asking for public assistance in identifying the individual and vehicle in surveillance photos.

Anyone who can identify the individual or pickup truck in surveillance photos is asked to contact state police at 315.366.6000; all information will be kept confidential.

Four Syracuse teens arrested after they crash stolen vehicle in Camillus

On July 28, 2019, at approximately 1:34 a.m., troopers from SP Elbridge conducted a vehicle-and-traffic stop on West Genesee Street in the town of Camillus. As troopers approached the vehicle, the driver sped away, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control at the intersection of Hinsdale Road and Warners Road, drove over an earth embankment and came to rest in a ditch. Four occupants were taken into custody without incident.

The vehicle, a 2016 Nissan Rogue, was determined to have been stolen from Maguire of Syracuse on Hiawatha Boulevard in Syracuse.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • A 17-year-old Syracuse male was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a D felony), third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
  • Aerick V. Brooks, 19, of Syracuse, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a D felony), seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs/alcohol (1192-4/a), both misdemeanors.
  • A 17-year-old Syracuse female was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor.
  • An 18-year-old Syracuse male was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor.

Traffic stop in Sullivan results in drug charge for Syracuse man

On July 28, 2019, at approximately 2:16 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of Sullivan for a vehicle-and-traffic violation. Upon interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established. The driver, Justin S. Aubrey, 22, of Syracuse, was found to be in possession of approximately seven ounces of marijuana.

Aubrey was taken into custody and transported to SP Syracuse where he was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana; a class A misdemeanor and a vehicle-and-traffic violation.

He was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Sullivan Town Court at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 2019.
