Assemblyman John Salka (R,C,Ref-Brookfield) recently attended a healthcare round table with Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. The event was hosted by Rep. Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) to discuss a health insurance tax that has negatively impacted New York’s small businesses.
Salka said his main priority is to see the HIT tax revoked, which would help protect jobs and prevent an increase in insurance premiums for families and small businesses. The effort to prevent a tax hike in the form of the HIT has been a priority for small businesses and the employer community, from the hospitality industry to the agricultural sector, he said.
“I commend Rep. Brindisi for bringing this bill before the House,” Salka said. “We need to do all we can to ensure our friends and neighbors receive the healthcare they need without crippling our local businesses.
“This bipartisan initiative is a great example of what we can accomplish by putting aside party lines and focusing on what is important: helping our constituents and friends live better lives.”
Assemblyman John Salka represents the 121st Assembly District, encompassing all of Madison County and portions of Oneida and Otsego counties.
