The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division today received accreditation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The state Law Enforcement Accreditation Program provides a blueprint for effective, professional law enforcement.
This is the first time in its history the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division has received accreditation. The administration received this honor within a year-and-a-half of being in office. The agency had to meet 110 standards to become accredited.
Accreditation provides formal recognition that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division meets or exceeds general expectations in all operations (training, fiscal management, personnel practices, policies and records management) and acknowledges the implementation of policies that are conceptually sound and operationally effective.
“Being awarded accreditation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services is an honor,” said Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood. “Becoming an accredited agency was a goal for my administration from the beginning. It acknowledges the outstanding job the members of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office do day in and day out.”
Accreditation is granted by the accreditation council for a period of five years. To continue in the program, the agency must submit a new application near the end of their five-year period of accreditation.
