Friends of Rogers offers monthly programs at Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne. Explore a specific topic with an experienced expert in a casual atmosphere during Learning Lectures and get outside for a fun educational adventure with EdVentures. For the month of October, both Learning Lectures and EdVentures focus on Fungi.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., “Fungi: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” is the Learning Lecture for October. The fungal kingdom is underexplored and what is known is hard to understand. Sally Reymers, mycologist, will help us make sense of these crazy organisms. Join her for a fascinating lecture. Individual rate: $4/members and $5/not-yet-members; family rate: $12/members and $14/not-yet-members.

If just talking about fungi isn’t enough, come to the October EdVenture “Hunting Down Fungi” Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. Fungi may be easy to find, but they are hard to identify. Join Reymers to discover how to recognize fungi on your own. They may be immobile, but fungi are hunters themselves, so be wary. Individual rate: $4/members and $5/not-yet-members. Recommended for ages 13 and up, family rates available.

Learning Lectures and EdVentures are recommended for ages 13 and up. Meet at the Visitor Center, just off state Route 80.  Paid pre-registration is required by noon the day prior for most classes; call 607.674.4733 or email sr.educator@FriendsofRogers.org for more details.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
