On Sept. 30, 2019, at 12:54 p.m., state police responded to State Route 13 and Elpis Road in the town of Vienna for a crash involving three vehicles including a Camden School Bus.

Investigation determined a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country van operated by Francis P. Mantelli, 64, of Camden, was northbound on State Route 13 when he failed to keep right and sideswiped a 2018 Camden school bus and a 2009 Ford Focus.

The school bus traveled off the roadway, struck a guidewire for a National Grid utility pole and struck a tree.

Mantelli was transported to St Elizabeth’s Hospital for evaluation and was issued a ticket for failure to keep right. The operator of the school bus, Amy C. Galway, and 12 students were not injured in the crash.

The operator of the Ford Focus, Deborah H. Greene, 63, of Blossvale, was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
