After a national search, Jean L. Boland has been appointed vice president for finance and administration at Hilbert College, President Michael S. Brophy, Ph.D., said. Boland will be a member of the college’s senior leadership team and will oversee administration, finance, facilities, human resources and technology. Her appointment will be effective Nov. 4, 2019.

“I am confident that Jean’s extensive background in finance and information technology in higher education will be extremely valuable as we reevaluate and implement new strategies in finance and technology,” Brophy said. “We are excited to have a leader with Jean’s experience, which includes previous service as both CFO and CIO in higher education, for this vital role.”

Boland held the roles of chief financial officer and chief information officer at Morrisville State College, where she served as vice president for administrative services and information technology. Boland served at Morrisville for 19 years, including stints as vice president for information technology services and director of computer services. During her time at Morrisville, Boland managed more than 200 employees in college business and finance, facilities operations and building construction, environmental health and safety, human resources and payroll, university police information technology services, libraries, instructional communications, and career and workforce development. She also improved budget transparency and encouraged shared governance by establishing a budget information group with campus-wide representation.

In addition, Boland served in the SUNY Information Technology Transformation Office and helped develop a centralized cybersecurity offering for all 64 colleges within the State University of New York. She has also held various roles at Berkshire Hathaway CNY Realty, General Electric, SUNY Delhi and Hewlett-Packard.

Boland has received multiple honors and awards, including the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service. She has served on numerous advisory boards, including the Morrisville College Foundation, AT&T College & University Advisory Council and the Sprint-Nextel Higher Education Advisory Board.

Boland, a native of Binghamton, earned her bachelor’s degree in computer and information studies from Colgate University and her master of business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
