For a captivating read and a fascinating discussion, Prof. Jen Herzog presents Steve Brusatte’s scientific account of “The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs,” which includes the latest news in paleontology. Interested readers should register at the Oneida Library’s Circulation Desk and inquire about available copies of the book.

The Great Give Back: Crafts for Shelter Animals

Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Along with other public libraries statewide, Oneida Library is participating in the Great Give Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 19. The OPL invites members of the community to come in and craft toys for dogs and cats in the area’s animal shelters. Beforehand, the OPL also welcomes donations of craft materials: clean old T-shirts, tennis balls, catnip, water bottles and long clean socks.

Monday Movie Matinee: “The Souvenir”

Monday at 1 p.m.

In this 2019 critical hit directed by Joanna Hogg, a young film-school student (Honor Swinton Byrne) falls for an older man (Tom Burke) only to become embroiled in a nightmare of lies and deceit. The showing is free and open to the public.

Book Talk with Matt Pelicano

Local author Matt Pelicano visits the OPL to share his recently published book Tabouli: The Story of a Heart-Driven Diabetes Alert Dog, a true-life story of a 13-year-old girl and the dog that is devoted to her. All ages will enjoy Pelicano’s reading from the book, his talk on its inspiration and meeting a service-dog-in-training, Odin.
