Congressman: I want to make sure everyone in the Mohawk Valley has a voice in Washington

Congressman Anthony Brindisi traveled across Oneida County meeting with constituents, connecting with local businesses, advocating for expanded broadband coverage and touring a local farm.

“To do my job, I need to hear directly from people in our communities about the challenges they face,” Brindisi said. “From protecting our national security, increasing broadband coverage in our rural communities, to making sure our family farms have the tools they need to succeed, I want to make sure everyone in the Mohawk Valley has a voice in Washington.”

Brindisi, a member of the powerful House Armed Services Committee, toured Utica cyber-security company Quanterion Solutions. Brindisi met with employees and discussed the important work being done in the Mohawk Valley to bolster our national security. Last year, Brindisi secured robust investment in national security through the National Defense Authorization Act.

Additionally, Brindisi visited United Northland Communications to learn about their efforts to expand broadband coverage in the area. Brindisi, a champion for rural broadband, recently launched a broadband survey to fix the Federal Communications Commission’s broadband maps. Brindisi toured the facility and met with employees to hear more about Northland’s broadband solutions.

Finally, Brindisi visited the Alpine Echo Farm in Holland Patent. Brindisi, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, touted the recently passed United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement. The agreement will hold Mexico and Canada accountable and improve trade for workers, farmers and small businesses. Brindisi and the farmers discussed issues facing dairy operations in the region and what can be done at a federal level to help. Last year, Brindisi successfully included provisions of his Dairy and Sheep H-2A Visa Enhancement Act into the Farm Workforce Modernization Act which passed the House.
