(Hamilton, NY – March 2011) Mid York Library System has a chance to win all 1,600 Dummies books, which would benefit all of our libraries.

To help us win this contest, go to facebook.com/MYLSDummiesFanPage and click on “Like.” This button appears near the top of the screen, under the phrase The Mid-York Library System (NY) loves Dummies books.  You do not need to have a Facebook account to do this. If we have the most “Likes” on our Facebook page of all other library fan pages at the end of the contest, April 30, we will win the books.

Invite your friends and neighbors to exhibit their hidden artistic talents. The library will be collecting artwork for our annual Community Art Exhibit until Thursday, March 31.

Encourage your elementary-age children to participate in the Second Chenango Valley Scribes Young Writers & Illustrators Contest. All entries are due by April 16. Applications and guidelines are available at the library and the Colgate Bookstore.

This is PARP month for Hamilton Central School elementary students. During this month, children are encouraged to read or listen to stories every day. Which books they chose to read is entirely their choice. Offer to read your favorite story with a neighbor or grandchild and help them achieve their goal.

Try sharing one of our newly acquired graphic novels. In addition to popular series, we also have “Green Lantern,” “Hellboy 1 and 2” and two “Invincible” collections.

The library is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library, (315) 824-3060, during these hours for assistance. The book drop on Broad Street is always open for your convenience.

Check the library’s Facebook page for up-to-date information about programs and special events.
