(Hamilton, NY – March 2011) Artwork is starting to arrive daily at Hamilton Public Library in anticipation of our seventh annual Community Art Exhibit. All forms of artwork will be considered, and we have lots of display space.

The deadline for submitting artwork is Thursday, March 31. Please call the library for more details about this exciting opportunity.

The exhibit will open with an artist reception for the entire community on Tuesday afternoon, April 5. This is one of several events that will be offered during the library’s Customer Appreciation Week, Monday, April 4 through Saturday, April 9.

The library is also one of several sites for the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Egg-Stravaganza. There will be a basket of plastic Easter eggs for purchase, some of which have jewelry from Lennon’s-W.B. Wilcox Jewelers.

We are now accepting entries for the Second Chenango Valley Scribes Young Writers & Illustrators Contest. All entries are due by April 16. Applications and guidelines are available at the library and the Colgate Bookstore.

Among the newest books at the library are “The Widow’s Story” by Joyce Carol Oates, “Spoken from the Heart” by Laura Bush, “Safe Haven” by Nicholas Sparks and mysteries by Dana Stabenow, John Lescroart, William Tapply and Stuart Woods.

There are also new titles by Jayne Ann Krentz, Tami Hoag, WEB Griffin, Fern Michaels and Catherine Coulter. Check out our new book shelf at the main entrance for other good reads.

The library is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call the library at (315) 824-3060, during these hours for assistance. The book drop on Broad Street is always open for your convenience. Check the library’s Facebook page for up-to-date information about programs and special events.
