Customer Appreciation Week at Hamilton Public Library

By Barbara Coger

(Hamilton, NY – April 2011) The Friends of Hamilton Public Library hope that everyone will participate in its annual Customer Appreciation Week April 4 through 9.

Special events include a reception for the library’s seventh annual Community Art Exhibit, an opportunity to learn how to download eBooks, a reception for volunteers of Hamilton Public Library, a music story time, a slide show plus home-baked goodies every day.

Our Community Art Exhibit is a fantastic opportunity to view the artistic talents of our library community. Artwork ranges from traditional paintings, pastels and photography to needlework, unique recycled ornaments and birch bark picture frames.

Pottery and fine jewelry are paired with stained glass, fabric arts, paper and wood work.

The exhibit will open with a community reception from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. April 5. Come and chat with some of the local artists while sampling The Bakers Batch goodies and listening to background music by Ed Vollmer.

For those of you who would like to download free eBooks from the Mid York Library System, there will be an opportunity to have help installing the software.  On Wednesday, April 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., MYLS staff will be on hand to assist you with this free download.

Please bring your own laptop and eReader. If you have an Apple iPad, the laptop is not necessary. The Kindle is not compatible with this system unfortunately. Pre-registration is suggested.

On Thursday, April 7, volunteers will be honored at a special reception starting at 4 p.m. The Irish dancers will once again perform for this dedicated group.

Story time on Tuesday, April 5, will feature a combination of Winnie-the-Pooh stories and music. Guest Storytellers Joan Ford and Patti Von Mechow, who will be using sign language, will start the program at 10:30 a.m. At the same time, I will be sharing fingerplays and rhymes with babies and toddlers in the Story Room.

The library is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call the library at (315) 824-3060, during these hours for assistance.
