(Morrisville, NY – Jan. 7, 2012) Visiting College of St. Elizabeth women’s basketball compiled a seven point lead at the break and maintained the lead in the second half to claim a 63-54 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.

The Mustangs fall to 1-8 overall, 0-2 in conference play, while St. Elizabeth improves to 5-3, 2-1 in NEAC action.

Four posted double figures for the Screaming Eagles, led by Sabrina Jarmolinski with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Kelly O’Dell added 11, while grabbing 12 boards. Anastasia Feola and Jade Wilson rounded out top scorers with 10 each, combining for nine assists.

Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) came off the bench to lead Morrisville State with 20 points, grabbing 12 boards (11 offensive), while teammate Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, NY) added a collegiate best 13 points and 13 rebounds. Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) added 10 points and 10 boards, assisting five.

St. Elizabeth raced out to a 12 point advantage midway through the first, fueled by two tre’s from Cheyenne Grant, claiming the 27-20 lead at the half.

In the second, the Screaming Eagles led by as many as 16 before the Mustangs chipped away to cut it to within seven with just over three minutes remaining, but St. Elizabeth sealed the victory hitting two lay-ups and 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch for the conference win.

Morrisville State struggled from the floor, hitting just 21-of-74 (28.4%), including 2-of-18 from behind the arc, while St. Elizabeth nailed 23-of-60 from the floor, nine from downtown.

The Mustangs controlled the offensive glass, dominating the Eagles with a 27-14 advantage, while out rebounding St. Elizabeth by a total 57-45 margin.

Morrisville State returns to the floor tomorrow, hosting conference opponent Penn State Abington at 2 p.m. in the STUAC Gymnasium.
