County Historian Presents the Next Canalside Talk

(Canastota, NY – Feb. 2012) On Monday Feb. 13 at 7 p.m., at the Canastota Public Library, Madison County’s Historian Matt Urtz will present a visual PowerPoint presentation.  This Canalside Talk, co-sponsored by Canastota Canal Town Museum and the Library is free to the public.

Madison County was home to some of the most innovative thinkers in American history.  Residents have directly affected the movie industry, the development of computers, firearm production, dental science, federal fiscal policy, the development of the tractor, and so much more.  Come out and learn about these people, and you will see how Madison County impacted American history.

With great enthusiasm, Urtz tackles his job of preserving and educating others about the importance of local history.  He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in history from SUNY Oswego; he interned at Fort Ontario and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio, and previously worked at the Rome Historical Society.
